A.J. Szozda – Head Pro, Director of Tennis

A.J. is a graduate of the Professional Tennis Management Program at Ferris State University. He has been teaching for 27 years mostly in the Toledo area, but has also taught in Florida, California, and Michigan. A.J. also teaches at Shadow Valley Maumee Tennis Club and is the Head Coach at Southview High School. He has developed many top ranked juniors in the Midwest, has had numerous students go on to play college tennis, and has had several former students become USPTA teaching professionals. 

Matt Gargas
Tennis Professional

Matt is a graduate of the University of Toledo – BBA in Finance. He currently works as a Home Appraiser. Matt has 8 years of Tennis teaching experience. He has been teaching tennis since graduating from Ottawa Hills High School where he placed 3rd in the state in doubles his senior year. Matt still competes in the Toledo area adult leagues at the 4.5 level. He also teaches at Launchpad Tennis.

JP McNerney
Tennis Professional

This will be JP’s 3rd year teaching at our camps. He is currently a student at The University of Kentucky. He played at Southview High School and was 1st Team All-NLL twice and a District Semi Finalist in Doubles as a Senior. Jp took privates with AJ for 5 years.

Hunter Verral – Tennis Professional

This will be Hunter’s 2nd year teaching with us. He is currently a student at Western Michigan University with a double major in Psychology and film with minors in Japanese and Music. He been playing tennis and taking private lessons with AJ for 9 years.

Max Forquer – Tennis Professional

This will be Max’s 2nd summer teaching with us. He plays 1st Singles at Northview High School and competes in the Midwest junior circuit. He has won 4 USTA Tournaments, in Holland Michigan, Cleveland, Toledo, and Columbus and has won the last 2 years in our singles League. Both years coming down to a playoff on the last day. Max was 1st team All NLL and a District qualifier in Singles last season as a Sophomore. He has been taking private lessons with AJ for 7 years.
